JAMMU, Apr 1: The people of Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, who repeatedly posed their faith in Congress candidates for decades, have realised that development of their areas was never a priority of this party. The same people are also of the view that the BJP candidate & the sitting MP, Dr. Jitendra Singh, has worked for the real development and welfare, taking all sections and areas on board and people fondly refer to him as ‘Vikas Purush’.
In a statement issued here, today, BJP State Spokesperson & Media Incharge for Udhampur-Doda-Kathua Constituency, Balbir Ram Rattan, said that the ongoing election campaign is witnessing fight between BJP’s real development and hollow slogans of the Congress and BJP’s work of five years is visible on ground while the same was nowhere for decades when Congress represented this constituency. Many projects brought by Dr. Jitendra Singh have even been completed in his tenure and more are near completion, he added.
Balbir said that record number of projects and schemes brought for Udhampur, Kathua, Reasi, erstwhile Doda districts are visible to the people but not to Congress, which never expected such massive development in just five years.
“Feeling isolated in the election fray, the Congress candidate is making statements. He has been repeatedly challenged to substantiate his allegations, but has failed to do so”, Balbir said and added that district Kathua’s Keediyan-Gandyal bridge, Shahpur -Kandi Multipurpose Project, Bio-Tech Park etc have shocked the Congress. Similarly, Devika Rejuvenation Project, Passport Sewa Kendras, Upgradation of Sports Stadium in Udhampur has turned Congress red- faced. He said that upgradation of Old Samba to Kathua Road, allocation of Rs 1.2 crore for development works in Ramsoo, sanctioning of Paddar Degree College in Kishtwar, adoption of villages in Kishtwar and Doda, approval for Chhatergala tunnel in Doda , recreation park in Reasi, War Memorial in Reasi, upgradation of Doda-Bhaderwah Road, has left Congress issueless, he added.
