Development schemes suffer due to official red tape: Harshdev

JAMMU, Dec 4:  J&K National Panthers Party chairman and sitting party MLA from Ramnagar, Harshdev Singh has expressed serious concern over the non-commencement of  planned works  under MGNREGA in various blocks  and Panchayats of district Udhampur.
In a press statement issued here today, the NPP MLA said it is pathetic that despite a lapse of eight months of the current financial year the Rural Development Department had failed to initiate action in respect of the works envisaged for execution under various rural schemes. He said that official red tape and apathy was responsible for the sorry state of affairs.
He regretted that the Government had been making tall claims of its performance and making loud pronouncements of its so called achievements, the ground realty was altogether different. Alleging total mismatch  between rhetoric  and delivery, Mr Singh said that the Government had failed to show any tangible output not only in the Rural Development sector but in other sectors as well.
While criticizing PDD of multifarious failures, he said that no activity was discernible in the said sector in district Udhampur. He said neither any electrification work had been executed during the current year, nor any repair or maintenance work was taken up. He alleged that the funds meant for electrification had arbitrarily been withheld at intermediate levels of DCP and Chief Engineer  and not been released to the district for ulterior reasons  resulting in large scale resentment amongst the common masses. He alleged that damaged transformers were also not getting  timely  attention of the concerned authorities.
NPP leader further rapped the Govt for non-initiation of action to honour the recommendations made in the DDB meeting held this year in Udhampur. He pointed out that several decisions taken with respect to Power sector, Education, Health, Rural Development, PWD, Tourism, Industries, PHE etc have remained confined to the files only with hardly any action been initiated to implement the same.
