JAMMU, Mar 21: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control and Chairman Campaign Committee Sham Lal Sharma has called upon the workers to step up efforts to motivate the masses for supporting the candidature of Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat Madan Lal Sharma.
Addressing the galaxy of Congress workers of various wards of Jammu city at Parade and Shakti Nagar here today, Minister asked the workers to start door-to-door campaign to highlight the achievements of UPA and State Governments and seek support of the masses for the party.
He stressed the need for coordinated efforts and active involvement of all cadres of Congress and National Conference. He urged the workers to focus on the development initiatives taken by the sitting MP Madan Lal Sharma during his two terms and seek support of public on the basis of the same.
He asked the workers to devise a well-knit strategy to achieve tangible results on ground.
The meetings were organized by Congress district president Om Chopra, which were attended by a large number of office bearers of JKPCC, Youth Congress, Sewa Dal and workers from all wards of East and West constituencies.
Instilling confidence in the workers, Minister said that the UPA will form the Government in Centre for the third consecutive term, adding that several hallmark people friendly decisions were taken during these terms. He said the achievements of the UPA Government need to be highlighted in right perspective to seek the support of the masses.
Those who addressed the gathering included MLC GN Monga, former Minister Yogesh Sawhney, President Jammu Chamber of Commerce, YV Sharma, ex-Mayor Narinder Singh, State Vice President, Youth Congress, Pranav Shagotra, District President, Mahila Congress, Prabha Slathia, General Secretary, JKPCC, Manmohan Singh.
