KATHUA, Apr 5: Thousands of devotees from the nearby towns and villages of Himachal Pardesh and Punjab turned up to pay their obeisance to Mata Katyani, the sixth incarnation of Maa Shakti at sixteenth century old historical Fort Temple of Mata Chanchlo Devi at Basohli, here today.
Like every year, this year also thousands of the devotees from the neighbouring States of Punjab and Himachal Pardesh are pouring in every day during the sacred Navratras to offer their prayers before the Goddess Chanchlo Devi.
The historical Temple is situated at the peak of a hillock situated quite in the middle of 10 kilometer stretch of land. The Goddess Chanchlo Mata is the Kul Devi of the natives of Basohli and that of the towns and villages of District Gurdass Pur of Punjab and District Chamba of Himachal Pardesh.
According to the old traditions, the newly wedded couples can make their entry in their parental homes only after offering prayers in the temple. That is the reason the newly wedded couples, expecting mothers and the newly born babies are brought in the temple with band baja to get the blessings of the Maha Mai.
It is the belief of the devotees that Goddess Chanchlo Devi grants everything which the devotees aspire for. Many patients suffering from skin disorders, issue less couples and those suffering from contagious diseases get the showers of blessings which are seen bearing fruit very soon.
Mata Chanchlo Devi Temple is not only a holy shrine but also a beautiful tourist spot which is situated at a place which is surrounded by the RSD lake water from three sides.
