UDHAMPUR, June 28: Despite rains, thousands of devotees thronged Sudhmahadev temple today to seek the blessing of Lord Shiva amidst festivities around the Mela site.
During the second day of three-day fair, the devotees took bath in the Beeni Sangam also called Budhisudhi rivulet, flowing down from top of the Dhar Shivgarh – revered as an abode of saints. The devotees took bath in the spring (Pap Nashni bowli) situated at the entrance of the temple. It is believed that a holy dip in the spring purges devotees of all evils.
The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Mela including uninterrupted power, safe drinking water, sanitation, medicare, assistance booth and security for the convenience of the visitors. The departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Health, Handloom, Fisheries, Sheep and Animal Husbandry have put up stalls to showcase products and educate the visitors about their schemes.
Number of temporary sweet shops, toy shops and other eatable corners by the locals as well as outside vendors are the main attraction for the general public visiting the festival site. Outnumbering the visitors, the children were seen enjoying the joy rides.
Langars were also organised by various voluntary organisations at the Mela site. Dharmarth Trust has also made elaborated arrangements for comfortable pilgrimage.
