JAMMU, Apr 8: A K Dewani’s book Radicalization in Kashmir hits stands today. The book was released at an impressive and colorful function at Press Club here by Speaker Kavinder Gupta who was the chief guest on the occasion while MLC Ashok Khajuria and B L Saraf retired Session Judge were the guests of honour.
President Panun Kashmir Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo was also present on the dais along with author A K Dewani — a noted intellectual and KP leader.
Noted columnist and writer Shiban Khaibri presented a paper on the book. He also made the critical appreciation of the book. Besides Khaibri gave a brief biography of the author. Lauding the work of the author, Khaibri said book will also serve as a reference for all the researchers doing work on the rise of Islamist radicalization in Kashmir.
Earlier author briefed the audience regarding the salient features of the book and also disclosed his candid reasons for having undertaken this project. Dewani said that he is himself a witness to the rising trend of the radicalization in Kashmir as a result of which the peace loving community of Kashmiri Pandits had to face persecution and mass exodus from Valley.
Kavinder Gupta while speaking on the occasion said the writing of a book requires a lot of diligence and hard work and the author has displayed his mastery over the subject. He said that the work of the author would be a great help in understanding the contours of the rising trend of the radicalization in Kashmir and devise appropriate strategies to combat the growing menace.
Ashok Khajuria also acclaimed the author’s work. He said Dewani has undertaken a work of huge significance to the present day world and said that our valiant security forces are sacrificing their lives to uphold the writ of the nation in Kashmir. Khajuria said that Kashmiri Pandits are the primary stakeholders of Kashmir and their rehabilitation should take precedence over all other issues in the State.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo in his address said that the need of the hour is to strengthen the nationalist constituency in the State so as to weaken the rising trend of the Wahabi ideology in Kashmir.
