JAMMU, June 12: Drugs and Food Control Organization (DFCO) J&K with the active support of Chemist Association Doda/Kishtwar, conducted a day-long awareness programme at District Headquarter Doda and also launched inspection drive of drug outlets in Baderwah, Thatri and Kishtwar area.
State Drug Controller, Lotika Khajuria and her Jammu based team of superior officers namely Mohd Iqbal (Deputy Drugs Controller, Jammu), Surinder Mohan (Deputy Drugs Controller, HQ J&K) and Renuka Raina (Deputy Controller, IL&C) attended the awareness programme.
During the awareness programme, the officers shared their extensive knowledge, expertise and experience to impart awareness to all the stake holders. They urged the religious leaders to sensitize the mass gatherings in the religious places against the evil effects of drug abuse. Besides the officers, various sections of the society particularly prominent citizens, NGOs and members of trade fraternity attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Lotika Khajuria emphasized to the pharma traders to stock and sell medicinal formulations strictly in consonance to the conditions of licenses and in adherence to the mandate of law by way of procuring medicines through regulated channels to ensure the genuineness of medicinal products. She also sensitized the audience to be sincere and honest in eradication of the menace of misuse of habit forming formulations.
Further, extensive inspections of sale establishments were carried out at Baderwah, Thatri and Kishtwar area by a team of Drug Control Officers under the personal supervision of Incharge Assistant Drug Controller Doda/Kishtwar.
