DFCO seizes illegally transported medicines

JAMMU, Sept 10: Drugs & Food Control Organization (DFCO), Jammu in its endeavor to provide quality medicines and food products to the consumers undertook special drive in district Kathua.
The Enforcement Staff, under the supervision of Lotika Khajuria, Deputy Controller, Drugs & Food Control Organisation, Jammu intercepted a truck at Toll Post, Lakhanpur and seized a consignment of medicines worth Rs 67,000 being transported in violation of the provisions of Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940. The medicines were being imported into the state without any purchase bills.
The Enforcement staff also conducted checking of incoming trucks carrying food Products and three samples, one each of Vanaspati Ghee, Refined oil and Biscuits were lifted for the purpose of test & analysis.
Further in a meeting with the members of Distt. Kathua Chemists & Druggists Association, Lotika Khajuria impressed upon them to comply with the provisions as laid down under the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940.
They were also directed to maintain proper purchase and sales records expecially with regards to the habit forming drugs.
