SRINAGAR, May 17: The DFOs as well as Rangers across J&K posted in various wings of the Forest, Ecology and Environment Department have not been transferred in the last at least 5 years, giving rise to nepotism as well as corruption and affecting the overall functioning and delivery of the department in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per details with Excelsior, there are DFOs holding charge of at least 136 posts across J&K in various wings such as Wildlife, Social Forestry, Forest Protection Force, Environment and Ecology, Social Conservation and other wings who have not been transferred for years.
The same is said to be the situation in the case of at least 350 Rangers who have not been transferred for the last at least 4-5 years by the concerned authorities.
These Forest officials are also posted in the Kishenganga and Uri project apart from several other projects. Further, in the case of DDOs too who have been posted in various projects, as per details, have not been transferred in the last several years-which also is said to be giving rise to the corruption.
“Out of these officers, who are mostly blue-eyed, not a single person has witnessed a transfer in these years which results in corruption and other malpractices and also affects the functioning of the department,” the sources said.
Some of these officials are posted in far flung area and some have been given prize postings.
However, the officials said that they are in the process of transferring the officers across J&K as per the procedure.
Commissioner Secretary, Forest, Ecology and Environment Department Sanjeev Verma told Excelsior that the Department is currently in a process of carrying out the transfers.
“Those who are needed are being kept at their places and those who are not are being transferred; this is a continuous process which remains on,” he said.
