JAMMU, Aug 29: Expressing serious concern over poor implementation of traffic rules in Jammu, Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (DFSS) today demanded stern action against erring drivers in the wake of growing accidents involving mini-buses.
The workers of DFSS under the leadership of their president, Ashok Gupta, were protesting in old Jammu city against the death of a minor girl in a road mishap at Bathindi and the callousness of the Traffic Department towards the implementation of rules.
“This is not the first time such thing has happened. The traffic cops never bother to take such drivers on task, who continue with overloading, speedy driving and without proper documentation”, he added.
He expressed anguish over the callousness of the administration and the traffic organization, saying the concerned have failed in containing this menace. He alleged negligence of traffic police in enforcing norms, as the mini-bus operators are seen plying vehicles amid blaring music and without wearing uniforms.
“There are credible reports that some of the drivers ply vehicles without licenses, as they seemingly enjoy impunity”, he said, adding that despite presence of traffic police such violations are taking place brazenly.
He stated that the mini buses are indulges in races, blowing horns at an ear drum piercing levels and are the biggest harm to our environment, as most of these buses doesn’t fulfill the pollution norms.
Gupta said that the installation of smart lights or making roads broad is not going to be of any used until and unless the traffic department make sure that on roads the rules are implemented and regardless of the scenario the rules and regulations must be upheld the highest.
