Calls for effective border domination

JAMMU, Aug 22: BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary today visited forward areas along the International Border in Jammu frontier to review the situation and operational preparedness of the troop, officials said.

He also interacted with troops on the ground and was briefed about security measures by top officials.
This is the first visit of the DG to the Jammu Frontier after taking over as head of the force recently.
His visit to the border belt comes ahead of the three-phased elections in Jammu and Kashmir beginning September 18.
The three-tier security grid along the International Border and Line of Control is being strengthened with more deployment of BSF troops and nearly 1,000 recently trained border police personnel backed by the Village Defence Groups (VDGs), officials said.
Chawdhary was received by IG DK Boora and other senior officers of the Jammu Frontier.
The IG BSF gave a detailed presentation to the DG BSF, covering all critical aspects of border security and domination, including the prevailing security scenario along the IB in Jammu.
The DG BSF visited Border Out Posts (BOPs) and also reviewed the operational preparedness of field formations in the Samba-Kathua sector and Sunderbani sector. He interacted with BSF Sector Commander and Battalion commanders on border management aspects.
He also addressed Sainik Sammelan at the Frontier Headquarters and praised the troops’ for their dedication towards border duties and told them to maintain effective border domination to prevent anti-national activities.
