PAHALGAM, Aug 3: Director General Rural Sanitation J&K, Anoo Malhotra, conducted a comprehensive review of sanitation facilities at Poshpathri, Panjtarni and MG Top on the Pahalgam axis, ensuring top-notch services for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024. Her visit aimed to assess the consistent functionality and effectiveness of sanitation arrangements, crucial for the comfort and safety of pilgrims.
Accompanied by the Camp Director and Additional Camp Director of Panjtarni, Nodal Officer Sanitation for Panjtarni and Poshpathri, and senior managers from QSS, GRAVITY, and Urban Enviro, Malhotra inspected the facilities to ensure they met high standards. Since the commencement of the Yatra, a total of 340 tonnes of waste has been generated along both axes, with 290 tonnes processed. This includes 145 tonnes of wet waste and 150 tonnes of dry waste, all properly processed. Additionally, 43 tonnes of inert waste have been generated. During her visit, Malhotra highlighted the collective efforts of the administration and stakeholders involved in the Yatra. “Our commitment to providing a clean and safe environment for devotees remains a top priority. We aim to offer pilgrims a seamless and spiritually enriching experience, complemented by impeccable sanitation facilities,” she stated. “Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene is essential to upholding the sacredness of this pilgrimage.”

The initiative reflects a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and the well-being of all pilgrims participating in the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024.
