DGP decorates IGP Nisar Ahmed with rank

Srinagar, June 12: Director General of Police (DGP) Dr SP Vaid today decorated Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nisar Ahmed at a simple pipping ceremony at Police headquarters here.
According to a police statement, a law graduate from Jammu University, Nisar Ahmed joined J&K Police as Deputy Superintendent in 1984 through J&K State Public Service Commission. “He was promoted to the rank of SP in 1997 and SSP in 2001, and was inducted into IPS in 2006 and allotted the year 1999.
“Nisar Ahmed got promoted to the rank of DIG in 2013 and IGP on June 07, 2017. He held charge of very sensitive posts during the long period of 33 years. Some of the most eventful posting done by the officer are DySP headquarter Rajouri, SDPO North Srinagar, Dy SP Headquarter Udhampur, SP Rural Jammu, SP CID,CI Kashmir, SP CID SB Jammu, SSP Traffic Jammu, SP Vigilance Kashmir/ Jammu, SSP Ganderbal, SSP Crime Branch Jammu, DIG Railway Security, DIG Traffic Jammu and DIG Doda,Ramban, Kishtwar Range,” the statement said.
Nisar Ahmed is a highly decorated officer with vast knowledge and experience of policing, the statement read, adding that he is recipient of DGP Commendation Medal and certificate, President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service and Sher-i-Kashmir Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
The DGP congratulated Nisar Ahmed and his family on this occasion. ADGP Headquarter VK Singh, IGP Headquarter Surinder Kumar Gupta, DIG Central Kashmir GH Bhat and other police officers were present on the occasion.
