JAMMU, July 28: The Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh today flagged off 120 retrofitted motorcycles to be deployed with police stations and traffic police at Gulshan Ground here. He also interacted with the teams of BDS, ATS and Dog Squad.
The flag off ceremony was attended by ADGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh, IGP Traffic, J&K, Vikramjit Singh, DIG JSK Range, Vivek Gupta, DPT, J&K, Shridhar Patil, SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli, SSP Traffic Koshal Sharma, AIG (P/T) PHQ, Gurinderpal Singh and other senior officers of Jammu District.
Speaking to the media, the DGP said these bikes are being provided to the police stations and traffic police. He said that it is an effort to empower our jawans with additional mobility to ensure quick and better response to any criminal activity.
Meanwhile, The DGP Dilbag Singh who is on visit to Jammu Division visited Kathua today where he chaired a crime review meeting and attended programmes organized by IRP 19th Battalion.
The crime meeting was attended by SSP Kathua, Ramesh Chander Kotwal, Principal PTS Kathua, Roop Raj, all SDPOs, SHOs and other officers.
While addressing the crime meeting at DPO Kathua, the DGP said that the jurisdictional officers must take all the measures to improve investigation and disposal of cases. The DGP directed for efficient investigation of cases related to crime against women. The DGP directed for conducting Police-public meetings at far-flung areas saying that it will contribute in achieving desired results.
During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on general crime work and terrorism cases, backlog cases and their disposal, conviction of all crime cases including cases related to terrorism and narcotics. Besides, the overall security scenario of the District was also discussed.
The SSP Kathua briefed the DGP about the Crime control measures and other allied Policing activities.
Later, the DGP attended a programme organized by IRP 19th Battalion. Students from various education institutions and cultural troupes attended the function and performed on the occasion.
The DGP announced cash rewards ranging from Rs 5000 to Rs 12000 for the participating schools and cultural troupes.
The DGP also launched a plantation drive by planting a Peepal sapling in the premises of the IRP 19th Battalion Headquarters. NGO Sanjeevani Jan Kalyan team provided 100 saplings to the Police on the occasion.
In his welcome address, Commandant IRP 19th Battalioni, Benam Tosh briefed about the aim of organizing the programme.
Speaking to the media, the DGP said the JK Police and other sister agencies are working tirelessly for the peaceful Yatra and added that people across J&K are welcoming the pilgrims and facilitating them at every point. Shri Amarnath yatra is going smoothly and hopefully will continue with the same manner, he added.
The DGP also interacted with the special teams of BDS/ATS and Dog Squads at DPL Kathua.
