DGP inspects CTC, stresses for sharpening training skills

JAMMU, Nov 29: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar today said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is sharpening the training skills of its personnel to enhance their professional capabilities in safeguarding the human life and public properties. He said that innovative changes are introduced in the training method to achieve the results.
Rajendra said this during his visit to Police Commando Training Centre (CTC) here today. He said that maintenance of law and order in the State is a major task of the force and it has remained on priority to strengthen training infrastructure and train the personnel in modern techniques of crowd management keeping in mind the essence of human life.
DGP disclosed that commando training for cops has gained much importance in view of present scenario and Jammu and Kashmir Police has established two Commando Training Centers in the State. The commando training centers are being strengthened by providing required infrastructure and training equipment so that the trainees could get better training in counter terrorism, counter intelligence, multi-tasking refresher courses, ambush, map reading and other methods to deal with the situations.
He disclosed that CTC Sunjwan was established in the year 2011 and more than 5,000 personnel have been imparted commanding training in this center. “We are bringing the centre at par with CTC Lethpora to achieve better results by imparting training to the police personnel in both provinces of the State,” he added.
During his visit, DGP inspected trainees contingents who demonstrated the skills of special commando training being imparted in the center. He interacted with the trainees and shared his experience of training with them.
Earlier, IGP IRP Jammu Zone, Yoginder Koul briefed the DGP about the training and other activities being carried out in the center. He also apprised about the requirements for upgrading the training centre up to required level.
On the occasion, detailed power point presentation about the activities of the Center was given by Dy. SP, Nikhul Gogna.
The DGP was accompanied by ADGPs, VK Singh and L. Mohanti, IGP Jammu Zone, Danish Rana, AIGPs, Sheikh Junaid, Javaid Ahmned Koul and B A Shah, Principal CTC, Nisha Nithyal, C.Os, Mohan Lal, Sham Sundar,  Anita Sharma, Rashmi Wazir, Deepak Kumar, SP (SDPO East), Chandan Kohli, staff members of CTC and other police officers.
