DGP Prisons reviews security, management of Central Jail

SRINAGAR, Nov 16: Director General of Police (DGP), Prisons Department SK Mishra visited Central Jail and reviewed the security and management of the jail.
On arrival, DGP was given guard of honor by the jail personnel and subsequently inspected inside and outside the jail premises.
DGP was accompanied by Technical Wing of Prisons Department and on the spot directions for completion of undergoing construction work in Central Jail were given to the construction agency.
DGP interacted with the jail inmates as well as staff and inspected various vocational training programs presently going on in Central Jail.
After brief inspection of entire jail premises, DGP chaired the meeting with Superintendent Central Jail, Officer Commanding guarding the outer parameter of the jail and Medical Officer Central Jail.
The proposals put forth by the officers before the DGP pertaining to security and management of the jail was given due consideration.
DGP stressed that proper health and hygienic condition, medical care and providing of healthy diet to prisoners and other allied facilities be made available round the clock as per the provisions of J&K Jail Manual.
DGP was overall satisfied with the management of the jail presently in vogue.
