SRINAGAR, July 6: Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar has reiterated that JKP would continue its drive against the road violations to streamline the traffic management in the State. He said that every member of the society has an important role to play in order to bring tangible results of our efforts.
Mr. Rajendra disclosed that in the first instance a special drive was initiated against the erring bikers for plying without valid documents or indulging in negligent driving. More than three thousand bikes and Scooties were seized during this drive and challaned under different offences, said Mr. Rajendra.
DPG reiterated that coordinated efforts have been undertaken to bring visible changes in the traffic management in the State and appealed the general public to cooperate with the traffic police and ensure the implementation more efficiently. He said that parents also have a vital role to restrain their children from traffic violation including not wearing crash helmets and doing unruly stunts. Security of the people is our prime concern and the tendency among the youth to indulge in double pillion ridding and without wearing crash helmet puts their precious life at stake, besides other road users. This practice would be arrested by taking legal action against the erring bikers, the DGP added.
