DGP reviews welfare schemes for jawans

SRINAGAR, May 16: Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has sanctioned more than Rs. 26 crore under different schemes for the welfare of police personnel, their families and retired personnel. He said that during the year 2015-16, more than Rs. 24 lakh relief has been paid to 121 retired police personnel out of Contributory Police Welfare Fund (CPWF).
Rajendra was speaking, while reviewing various welfare schemes and their implementation for the serving jawans, their families and retired personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. He said that welfare of police personnel and SPOs, besides their families has remained our area of concern to provide a succor to them. This has been possible because of the initiation of CPWF, which is exclusively generated by monthly contribution from all police ranks, said Mr. Rajendra.
DGP emphasized to enhance various welfare measures for the families of police personnel and stressed upon the officers for quick disbursement of amount of relief to the beneficiaries. He asked to find out possibilities for enhancing the benefits to the wards of martyrs in order to promote their education.
Giving details, Mr. Rajendra said that during the year 2015-16 more than Rs.17 crore special relief has been disbursed among the families of 155 deceased police personnel, besides loan of Rs. 2 crore provided to 461 deserving personnel. He said that 121 retired police personnel have been benefited by disbursing relief during the period. Scholarship to the wards of police martyrs and meritorious school going children of other personnel were provided to promote their education and enhance their capabilities, Rajendra added.
