DGP sanctions around Rs 2 cr welfare loan, relief

JAMMU, Oct 7: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Rs 1.77 crore welfare loan in favour of 141 police personnel.
He has also sanctioned over Rs 22 lakh in favour of 106 retired police personnel and the Next of the Kin (NoK) of the martyred/deceased police personnel to meet their immediate financial needs.
As per an order issued in this regard, the DGP has sanctioned a welfare loan of over Rs 1.58 crore in favour of 121 police personnel for their or their wards’ marriages. Similarly, Rs 17 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of 12 police personnel to meet the expenses for higher/professional education of their wards while Rs 1.50 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of three police personnel for the circumcision of their wards.
Another order said that a welfare relief of over Rs 15 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of 79 retired police personnel and the NoK of the deceased personnel to ease up their financial needs.
The DGP has also sanctioned Rs one lakh each in favour of four NoK of the martyred police personnel for the purpose of the marriage ceremony of their daughters. Besides, a welfare relief of over Rs 3 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of 23 NoK of the martyred police personnel/SPOs to ease up their financial needs for the purpose of medical requirement or marriage of their wards.
The welfare loan is sanctioned to the police personnel is refundable and is recovered in monthly instalments form their salaries without any interest. However, the welfare relief provided is non-refundable.
