DGP sanctions financial aid, scholarships

SRINAGAR, Sept 6: The Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, RR Swain, has approved financial assistance and scholarships for the dependents of fallen police officers, as well as meritorious scholarships for the children of serving personnel.
As per an order, the DGP sanctioned Rs 1 lakh each to support the marriages of the daughters of five J&K Police martyrs. This assistance comes from the J&K Police Pariwar Fund.
Another order said that the DGP approved scholarships for 16 children of martyrs pursuing various levels of education.
This includes Rs 18,750 for a Ph.D student, Rs 15,000 each for five Master’s students, Rs 12,500 each for six Bachelor’s students, and Rs 7,500 each for two students in lower classes. The scholarships come from the Central Police Education Fund.
Additionally, the DGP sanctioned merit scholarships for 190 children of serving police personnel who excelled in the Class 10 exams for the 2023-24 session.
A statement said that those scoring 90% and above will receive Rs 6,000 each, while students with scores above 80% will get Rs 4,000. This is funded by the Central Police Welfare Fund.
