DGP sanctions meritorious scholarship for police wards

JAMMU, Apr 25: Continuing with its endeavour to boost the morale and assist the wards of police personnel, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh sanctioned scholarship of Rs 9.78 lakh in favour of 201 school going wards of serving police personnel.
Rs 6,000 each have been sanctioned in favour of eighty-seven meritorious wards of police personnel of class 10th who secured 90% and above marks and Rs 4,000 each have been sanctioned in favour of one hundred fourteen meritorious wards of police personnel of class 10th who have secured 80% and above marks during the academic session 2019-20.
DGP also sanctioned Rs 5 lakh in favour of NoKs of deceased SPO Shahbaz Ahmed who was martyred during the Zantrag Khrew encounter on 21.01.2020. Meanwhile, Rs 50,000 each as financial assistance out of Police Parivar Fund has also been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of martyr SPO Muneer Ahmad and martyr SPO John Mohammad to ease their financial distress.
The amount has been sanctioned out of Central Police Education Fund/Contributor Welfare Fund of SPOs and Police Pariwar Fund.
Police Headquarters has also sanctioned Rs 4,35,000 as welfare relief in favour of 23 retired police personnel out of Retired Policemen Welfare Fund. Welfare relief has been sanctioned in favour of retired personnel to meet their expenses of different natures including self-treatment, treatment of dependents, marriage of wards and Rs 82,000 in favour of NoK of martyr SI Abdul Aziz for self-treatment.
