DGP sanctions meritorious scholarship for wards of retired police personnel, SPOs

JAMMU, Nov 8: With an aim to promote the merit and instill the spirit of competition among the wards of police personnel, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has sanctioned meritorious scholarship of over Rs.50 lakh in favour of wards of retired police personnel and serving SPOs.
The meritorious scholarship has been sanctioned in favour of 30 such wards for their performance in the annual examination of class 10th, 12th and Graduation during the academic session 2020-21. The scholarship has been granted out of the Central Police Welfare Fund under two different orders.
The scholarship of Rs 7200 each has been granted in favour of 7 wards for securing above ninety percent marks in class 12th and Rs 6000 each has been sanctioned in favour of five wards who have secured eighty percent and above marks in the annual examination of class 12th.
Similarly, the scholarship of Rs 6000 has been granted in favour of a ward of SPO for securing above ninety percent marks in class 10th and Rs 4000 each has been sanctioned in favour of 12 wards who have secured eighty percent and above marks in the annual examination of class 10th.
In another order, the DGP has sanctioned Rs 3000 each in favour of 4 wards of retired police personnel who have secured 75 per cent and above marks in graduation.
The meritorious scholarship schemes of Jammu and Kashmir Police include scholarships for wards of serving, deceased and martyred police personnel and SPOs for class 10th & 12th. Special reward is also given to the students who perform exceptionally in the college/universities and technical courses. Rewards are also given to the wards who crack competitive exams like UPSC, JKPSC, NEET, NET, CSIR etc.
