DGP sanctions over Rs 1.10 cr welfare loans, scholarships

JAMMU, July 26: Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh, has sanctioned over Rs. 1.10 crore in welfare loans for 90 police personnel, catering to their immediate financial needs. The allocation has been made from the Central Police Welfare Fund.
The welfare loans, amounting to Rs 1 lakh each for 58 police personnel and Rs 1.50 lakh each for 27 others, will aid in covering expenses related to their own or their children’s marriages.
Additionally, four police personnel have been provided with Rs 1.5 lakh each to support the higher/professional education of their wards.
Notably, one police official has been granted Rs 50 thousand for his ward’s circumcision. The loans are refundable and recovered in monthly instalments from their salaries, while welfare relief is non-refundable, easing financial pressures.
In tandem with promoting education, the DGP has also sanctioned meritorious scholarships and special rewards worth Rs 4.12 lakh for 74 wards of serving police personnel. Among them, 64 bright students who secured 80% and above marks in Class 10th Annual examination during 2022-23 received Rs 3.12 lakh.
An incentive of Rs 6,000 each has been granted to 28 students with over 90% marks, while Rs 4,000 each has been bestowed upon 36 students with 80% and above marks.
The outstanding achievements of 10 wards of serving police personnel in various Competitive Examinations during 2022-23 have been recognized with a special reward of Rs 10,000 each.
