SRINAGAR, Sept 28: In order to boost morale of police wards and instil a spirit of competition among them, JKP grants scholarships in different categories for the meritorious children, besides assistance to the wards of deceased personnel.
This was disclosed by the Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajendra Kumar, while sanctioning scholarship of Rs.11 lakh for 324 police wards at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. He said that the innovative schemes introduced by the Organisation are aimed to promote education among police children, which are bringing good dividends and the students are excelling in different academic and competitive examinations.
Rajendra said that scholarships are granted out of Central Police Welfare Fund for the meritorious wards studying in middle and secondary classes. Accordingly special rewards are granted to the children qualifying State and National level competitive examination, and securing distinction in degree courses. He said that the wards exhibiting talent at National level in sports are also encouraged with the aim to instil moral values and sense of sportsmanship among them.
DGP said that a contributory Central Police Education Fund has also been established to provide succour to the school going children of deceased cops. Under this scheme the wards are granted scholarship for every academic year from primary level up to post graduation and other technical courses. He said that Police Public Schools are providing free education to the wards of police martyrs, who are excelling in different examination, bringing laurels to the Organisation.
