DGP sanctions Rs 9.94 cr welfare loan for flood affected police personnel

JAMMU, Nov 21: The Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, today sanctioned soft welfare loan of Rs. 9.94 crore in favour of 1987 flood affected police personnel in the State. The soft loan has been sanctioned out of Central Police Welfare Fund, which is completely a contributory fund of the Organization.
The decision in this regard was taken at a welfare meeting held under the chairmanship of DGP at PHQ here today. He said that the recent floods caused heavy damages to the property of the people including the properties of police personals of the State. He said the decision has been taken, in relaxation of standing welfare rules, to provide immediate succor to the affected police families.
Mr. Rajendra disclosed in first phase Rs. 3.5 crore were already sanctioned and distributed among 715 flood affected police families during last month by PHQ.
The DGP said that in the second phase, more such personnel were considered for the relief after scrutinizing their cases on the basis of recommendations from the concerned Officers. The cases were found genuine by the managing body of welfare committee and Rs. 50,000 each sanctioned in favour of affected personnel of the Organization.
Mr. Rajendra, reiterated that the Organization is at back of the affected police families and would provide every possible assistance to rebuild their damaged properties. He said that the Organization would support the affected personnel from its own resources so that they would not face difficulties in this hour of need.
