DGP sanctions Rs 90 lakh relief for families of deceased cops

SRINAGAR, July 7: With an aim to provide financial support to the families of the police personnel/SPOs who died while in service, the Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Rs 90 lakh as special welfare relief.
Relief of Rs 19 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents of deceased ASIs Ghulam Nabi and Ashwani Kumar, HC Paras Ram and Follower Nazeer Ahmad who expired due to illness while in service.
Rs 1 lakh has been already paid to the next of kins of deceased cops for performing last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through the concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of Contributory Police Welfare Fund.
Apart from this special relief of Rs 4.50 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents of deceased SPOs Riyaz Ahmad and Shanker Singh.
Rs 50,000 each have been already paid to their families for performing last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ.
