DGP takes cognizance of viral video of woman

RAJOURI,  June 14:  State Police chief taking cognizance of the viral video of a young woman hailing from Jawahar Nagar Rajouri, directed the SSP Rajouri to take cognizance of the matter and register an FIR against the alleged accused one Nadeem  Ahmed of Rajouri town.
A police officer told the Excelsior that on the directions of the top police officer, Rajouri police has registered an FIR No. 251/ 2017 under sections 341. 323, 354 and 506 RPC against Nadeem Ahmed, resident of Manhas Mohalla, Jawahar Nagar, Rajouri.
The woman, Bimla Rani, wife of a Defence personnel alleged that this youth was harassing her for the last three years.  He had also threatened her to change her religion and also indulged in molestation and sexual harassment. She claimed that she went to lodge FIR at Police Station Rajouri but the cops there  did not take any action and pressurized her for compromise.  Even she lodged complaint before the then SSP but again there was no action.  The DGP has also ordered an inquiry  into the matter, the spokesman said.
