DGP takes stock of law & order situation in Jammu

JAMMU, June 18: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar today said that coordination among all field units at different levels is must to ensure peace and security of the people. He said that maintenance of law and order is also imperative to maintain communal harmony and provide better policing to the people of the State.
Mr. Rajendra was addressing a meeting of police officers of Jammu city at Police Control Room (PCR), here. The meeting was convened to review law & order and security scenario in Jammu city. Stressing for greater synergy among all police components dealing with maintaining  law & order and security of the people, he said that rule of law is our prime concern which should be ensured at every cost.
Frequent meetings by the supervisory officers in their jurisdiction with the people of different communities would help to ease the situations, said the DGP.
He said that in the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra, it is imperative for all ranks of JKP to brace up for the challenge of making the yatra smooth and hassle free.
DGP said that Jammu city being the gateway of the State, witnesses a large footfall of pilgrims, tourists and it is must for the personnel deployed for different field duties to keep the law & order maintained. He said that security of vital installations should be reviewed at different levels and efficient measures be taken for these places. Communication network needs to be enhanced to make the arrangements put in place, more fruitful, he added.
Earlier, IGP Jammu Zone, Danish Rana briefed the meeting about the overall situation in the province. He said that continuous vigil is being maintained on the activities of suspicious elements to foil any attempt to vitiate peace and order in the region.
The meeting was also attended by DIG, Jammu Range, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, SSP Jammu, Sunil Gupta, SSP CID, Varender Sharma, SSP (PCR), Ashok Sharma, SP (North) Vinod Kumar, SP (South) Shazad Ahmed Salaria, SP Headquarter, Romesh Chander Kotwal and other police officers.
