JAMMU, Jan 10: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar has stressed upon all ranks of Jammu and Kashmir Police to improve their proficiency and gain public confidence.
Mr. Rajendra was addressing a darbar of officers and jawans at District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar today. He said that public service is the prime duty of JKP, reiterating that safety of human lives and public property has remained among top priorities of the force. He said that the force, despite facing tough challenges, has succeeded in prevailing a sense of security among the public. He said that with the active cooperation of the people, the force has succeeded in bringing peace in the State and it is our endeavour to keep the peace maintained at all levels.
Stating that service to public is service to almighty, the DGP stressed upon the personnel to prefer public service on their personal comforts. “Our patient attitude in the field especially at Thana level would help to build confidence among the people and strengthen our image in the public. JKP by the dint of its dedication has made the nation proud and we have to keep it up in the future while deliverance”, he said. He stressed for transparency in day-to-day functioning of police to bring about a positive change in the public perception about the force.
Appreciating the role of JKP during floods, conduct of Parliamentary and Assembly Elections in the State, Mr. Rajendra said that confidence in the minds of people has been restored and the State has witnessed a good turnout in the recent Assembly elections. He said that JKP has demonstrated great valour and courage while fighting the militancy in the State and save precious human lives and public property.
During the darbar, the DGP heard the jawans patiently and assured that their problems would be looked into at Zonal and PHQ level. He also issued on spot directions to IGP Kashmir Zone and range DIGs, to redress their grievances within their competence. He informed that the welfare of jawans has always being priority and more welfare schemes have been introduced to benefit the jawans and for their families.
Among others, the darbar was attended by IGP, Kashmir Zone, AG Mir, DIG (CKR), Syed Ahfadul Mujataba, SSP, Srinagar Amit Kumar and other police officers.
