JAMMU, Oct 7: Director General of Police K Rajendra Kumar today visited International Border (IB) in wake of the Pakistani shelling in Arnia forward belt here and was briefed about the border situation by BSF officers.
He, along with Jammu Zone Inspector General of Police Rajesh Kumar, visited the areas affected by the ongoing firing and shelling along the International Border at Arnia and R S Pura Sector, a police spokesman said.
Kumar conducted the detailed visit to the affected border villages where the BSF and other officers briefed him about the whole situation.
After making an assessment of the situation, the DGP briefed the Police and BSF personnel to synergise their efforts and fully ensure the safety and security of the local population, he said.
Moreover, during his visit to border areas of Arnia and R S Pura sector, he interacted with the affected public at safe shelters at Rehal and Salehar and took a stock of the measures taken for their welfare and safety.
Later on, the DGP visited the houses of the deceased at Arnia and paid heartfelt condolences to their families.
Further, he interacted with the officers and officials of J-K Police at PS Arnia and also held interaction with the officers of BSF deployed in these areas. (Agencies)
