SRINAGAR, Dec 2: Highlighting the importance of people’s role in maintaining law and order, Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar has stressed upon the officers to evolve an effective mechanism and ensure public safety while dealing with the situations. He also stressed for synergy among the ranks to maintain standards of discipline.
Rajendra said this during his day long visit to North Kashmir’s police districts of Baramulla, Kupwara, Handwara and Sopore today. Special DG, Coordination/Law & Order, Dr S P Vaid accompanied the DGP during his visit.
The DGP stressed for people friendly policing with major concern for security of human lives and prevalence of public order. He said peace is must for developmental activities and law enforcing agencies have a major role to lead the State towards tranquility and prosperity.
Addressing officers meetings during his visit to district Police Lines Kupwara and Sopore, Rajendra emphasized the need for joint strategy to be followed by JKP with other security agencies, saying that joint efforts would lead to success in maintaining law and order and security, apart from ensuring congenial atmosphere. He disclosed that the North Kashmir districts have much importance from security point of view and it is must for all ranks to focus on better coordination among the forces, besides ensuring cooperation.
District Superintendents of Police, North Kashmir Range through their power point presentations apprised the DGP about the security scenario in their respective areas and the measures taken with regard to maintaining law and order and security of the people.
He also addressed jawans and officers at Kupwara and Sopore. He said JKP has faced abnormal situations for the last 27 years and the force has dealt with these situations firmly. He said the force has always ensured to avoid collateral damages, while dealing with the situations.
He reiterated that JKP is committed to peace and order in the State in order to ensure security of the people. Elements inimical to peace would have to realize that public order is beyond any compromise and activities endangering peace and tranquility would be dealt sternly under the law of land. He stressed to keep vigil on the activities of trouble makers and curb their activities.
Special DG, Dr. S. P. Vaid also addressed the meetings and durbars. He stressed for organizing regular meetings and interactions with the public at different levels to strengthen police public relations.
Among others, the meetings was attended by IGP, Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani, DIG North Kashmir, Uttam Chand, SSPs, Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, Shamsher Hussain, Ghulam Jeelani Wani and Harmeet Singh Mehta, SDPOs and other police officers.
