DGPC, Sikh bodies condemn abduction of girls in Valley

JAMMU, Aug 2:  District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) Jammu and various Sikh organizations today  strongly condemned  abduction of two Sikh girls from  Chhattisinghpora area of Anantnag in Kashmir and expressed serious concern over the matter.
Addressing a joint press conference at Press Club here today, DGPC general secretary Avtar Singh Khalsa, DGPC president Jagjit Singh, Adv Surinder Singh and others expressed serious concern over the matter  and the happenings in Kashmir and alleged that minorities were not safe there. They alleged that some miscreants  kidnapped the two Sikh girls and district authorities Anantnag have  failed to take desired action in this regard.
They pointed out that both  the girls are minor and were abducted on July 31, 2018 at around 9.30 am from Chhatisinghpora. They were taken in black Tavera vehicle. Later,  they were found in semi-conscious condition in Srinagar area.  After proper medical examination and statement of the girls, it was ascertained that they  were safe.
These leaders said that only fair investigation by police into the case can restore confidence of the minorities residing in Kashmir. The motive behind  and the conspiracy should be exposed. They said that former MLC  and SGPB  chairman Tarlochan Singh Wazir has already taken up the matter with the State Administration.  They urged upon the Governor N N Vohra to hold proper investigation into the matter and punish the guilty.
Mohinder Singh, Surjit Singh, Jaspal Singh, Gurdev Singh and Kuldip Singh also spoke on the occasion.
