DH Kishtwar facing dearth of staff, people warn agitation

KISHTWAR, Jan 1: Expressing their serious concern over the shortage of staff in District Hospital Kishtwar the people of Kishtwar have urged the authorities immediately fill up the vacant posts of doctors and para medical staff failing which they will come to streets.
The members of civil society Kishtwar said due to lack of doctors, paramedical staff and nursing orderlies the patients admitted in the hospital or those coming for treatment from far off places of the district are facing many hardships and some times even patients die due to lack of proper care as the Hospital is running short of staff resulting into public resentment and protests.
While turning the attention of the authorities towards the issue said D H Kishtwar they said one post of Anesthesia specialist, one dermatologist, one pathologist, one child specialist, one consultant Dentist, 12 assistant surgeons, one blood bank technician, one head pharmacist, three junior pharmacists, one Nursing orderly, one chowkidar, one washer man, eight sweepers, one X Ray technicians senior, one junior X Ray technician, three senior theatre technicians, three junior technicians, one senior Ophthalmologist, one senior grade nurse, three junior grade nurses, one X ray boy, one Ward boy, one nursing supervisor , one generator operator, one plumber, one lab boy and one senior nursing orderly posts vacant and the Government has failed to fill up these posts till date despite the public protests.
Shamsher Singh Bhandari a senior Congress leader and member of civil society Kishtwar said these all posts are sanctioned for the Hospital but the authorities have failed to fill up them till date with the result the Hospital is running with shortage of staff.
He warned agitation in case further delaying tactics are made in filling up the vacant posts and added that hospital staff has to face the wrath of people whenever any death takes place due to lack of proper medicare.
