SRINAGAR, Mar 21: The Minister for Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department, Sakeena Itoo, said today that District Hospital (DH) Kulgam has been brought under the control of Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag to ensure better healthcare facilities for the public.
Speaking with reporters, Itoo stated that this step has been taken to provide round-the-clock medical services, particularly benefiting people from remote areas.
“There are several such proposals under consideration, and it is not just about Anantnag or Kulgam. If we believe any proposal will enhance patient care, we will implement it on the ground,” she said.
The Minister emphasized that the decision aims to improve patient care by ensuring the availability of doctors whenever needed.
“With DH Kulgam now under GMC Anantnag’s control, the hospital will remain operational 24/7, ensuring better healthcare services,” she added.
The Minister reaffirmed that the Omar-led Government is committed to easing people’s hardships, whether in healthcare, education, or social welfare.
“The Chief Minister has already prioritized the demand for old-age and widow pensions and has ordered an increase in their amount,” she said.
Sakeena assured that the Government is committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Kashmir, reducing the need for people to travel outside for treatment.
