Dhanvantri Jayanti, National Ayurveda Day celebrated

JAMMU, Oct 29: Dhanvantri Jayanti and 9th National Ayurveda Day were celebrated with great fervor, here today.
In this regard, an impressive program was organized at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium University of Jammu wherein Prime Minister’s address from All India Institute of Ayurveda was telecasted live from New Delhi.
The program was attended by more than 600 Ayurveda professionals from across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar was the chief guest during the event.
In his address, the Divisional Commissioner congratulated the Ayurveda fraternity on Dhanvantari Jayanti and reiterated the role which Ayurveda can play in achieving the holistic well being of countrymen.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Mohan Singh, Director Ayush J&K highlighted that Ayurveda is considered as the Mother of all health science.
Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director Ayush Jammu, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Raina, Assistant Director Ayurveda, Dr. Vandana Dogra Medical Superintendent Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital, Dr. Aruna Bhat Deputy Medical Superintendent GAH, Dr. BR Dubb, Authorized Officer Homoeopathic Board were also present during the event.
To celebrate the day, a health check-up camp organized by Regional Ayurvedic Institute, Bantalab was held here today.
The camp was organized on the request of Sanjay Mahey, former Chairman, Health and Sanitation Committee, (JMC), in the presence of Narender Singh, former Mayor and Vikas Roy. Among others who were present during the camp included, Dr Vipin Sharma, Dr Aarushi Prasher, Dr Simran and Ankit Nagar.
JIAR also celebrated the day in association with Vishwa Ayurved Parishad and Arogya Bharti Jammu. A series of events were organized on this occasion under the theme “Ayurveda Innovation for Global Health”.
A Havan was conducted on this auspicious day of Dhan Trayodashi- Dhanteras followed by Shishyopanayana samskara, where 1st Prof BAMS and 1st year MD (Ayurveda) students took oath of a shishya (student) and tied Mouli.
Prizes were distributed among the students by Suman Sharma, Chairperson, Shri Sain Charitable Trust for Higher Education and Research, Jammu.
MDs Ritesh Sharma, Ravish Sharma, CEOs Japna, Jasudha Sharma, Nitin Mahajan, Principalwere also present during the event.
Indigenous Medicines Organization (IMO) also commemorated the day. In this regard a function was organized under the chairmanship of Dr K K Gandotra, former Deputy Director, ISM.
Dr Mahesh Chander Sharma, General Secretary, IMO paid floral tribute and stressed the need to educate the people about the lifestyle as mention in Ayurveda under Swasthvritta and Yoga.
Sanjeev Kumar, Ashutosh Mangorta, Ankit Bali and Dr Rajesh Goswami were also present during the function.
Dhanwantri Jayanti was also celebrated at Rahul Pharma here today.
The day was also celebrated at the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, Leh. On this occasion, Jamyang Tsering, former Member of Parliament, Ladakh was the chief guest during the event. Dr Tashi Thinlas, Director, Health Medical Education was the guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Jamyang Tsering highlighted the contribution of Government of India for the development of Ayurveda, Sowa-Rigpa and other traditional medicines of India on national and International level.
India Ayurveda Organization also celebrated the day at its center in Kathua.
Dr Hitender Mahajan, founder and Chief Physician explained the importance of Ayurveda in our lives.
“The great thing about Ayurveda is that its treatments always yield side benefits and no side effects,” he added.
District Ayush Office, Doda in collaboration with District Administration, Doda also celebrated 9th National Ayurveda Day ( Dhanvantri Jayanti) with great enthusiasm.
DC Doda Harvinder Singh along with SSP Doda Mohd Aslam inaugurated the programme and free Ayurvedic Medical Camp.
The event was kicked off with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony followed by informative sessions on the benefits of Ayurveda.
The celebration also included yoga and meditation sessions, highlighting the importance of a balanced lifestyle for overall well-being.
Renowned Ayurveda practitioners and scholars were also present to share their knowledge and insights on the holistic approach to health and wellness.
