‘Dharma Nagri’ Purmandal in shambles: Shiv Sena

JAMMU, Apr 20: Expressing anguish over ‘Dharma Nagri’ Purmandal being in shambles, Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray J&K unit as urged upon the Lieutenant Governor (LG), Manoj Sinha to personally look into the matter.
After visiting the holy place, Shiv Sena J&K president, Manish Sahni claimed that plight of the holy place reflects some deep rooted conspiracy to destroy Hindu temples and Dogra heritage.
He said it is quite unfortunate and painful to witness the ancient temples at Purmandal turning ruins and regretted that antiques of Lord Shiva, Ganesh and Nandi inscribed on an ancient Shivalingam and stones are lying in shambles without any proper care.
Sahni alleged that 131 Sarais and 360 dialects reflecting Dogra heritage stand demolished today with temple of Kali Mata having disappeared as if it never existed.
He claimed that due to shortage of Pundits at these temples even the Shivalingam are disappearing for want of maintenance and security.
The Shiv Sena leader said that it is a matter of great concern that employees of this religious shrine are without salaries for the last five months.
“Great personalities like Sant Kabir, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Guru Nanak Dev had visited this holy place to pay obeisance but now this sacred place is in pitiable condition,” he maintained.
Sahni appealed J&K LG for restoration and preservation of this place of utmost historic and religious significance else Shiv Sena will come into play to restore this religious place to its pristine glory.
Shiv Sena Women Wing president, Meenakshi Chhibber; general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; women secretary, Geeta Lakhotra and Dimple also accompanied Sahni during Purmandal visit.
