Dharmarth Trust celebrates Janmashtami, conducts symbolic Shobha Yatra

JAMMU, Aug 29: J&K Dharmarth Trust today celebrated Shree Krishna Janmashtami with religious fervor, here at Shri Raghunathji Temple.
On the occasion, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Raghav Langer was the chief guest while Dinesh Singh Chauhan, Senior Advocate of J&K High Court was the guest of honour. Ajay Gandotra, president and Dr Gopal Parthasarthi Sharma, secretary of the Trust, alongwith Members of Advisory Committee of J&K Dharmarth Trust Council were also present.
As per the rituals, the idols of Lord Radha Krishan were taken out from the sanctum of Holy Raghunath Temple and ‘Parikarma’ was performed inside the Temple premises as the Shobha Yatra was cancelled in the wake of Coronavirus.
Divisional Commissioner along with Trust’s president and others took part in the symbolic Shobha Yatra taken out in the Temple premises. The priests also offered special prayers to get rid of this ‘lethal’ virus and sought good health and welfare of the entire mankind. The Temple was decorated with buntings and colourful flowers befitting the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner said that Krishna showed the path of Karma and truth. He said that teachings contained in Lord Shri Krishna’s Bhagavad Gita have presented a philosophy of life which is true to the hilt and has helped many humans to attain ‘Moksha’.
Ajay Gandotra prayed for the well-being of the people of J&K. He observed that the message of Lord Krishna, enshrined in the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, exhorted mankind to strive for the ultimate truth and to do one’s duty to the best of one’s ability without being concerned about the benefits one would gain out of it.
Among others who were present include General SK Sharma, Pawan Shastri, Sandeep Kumar, Anil Shastri, Baldev Khullar, Surinder Mahajan and Parveen Kumar Sharma-all members of Advisory Committee of J&K Dharmarth Trust Council; Charanjit Singh, OSD and Manm-ohan Singh Jamwal, Administrator.
