SAMBA, Sept 28: Continuing with its age old tradition to look after the important temples and shrines of Jammu and Kashmir State and providing facilities to visiting devotees, Dharmarth Trust J&K ensured foolproof arrangements at Purmandal and Utter Behni Shrines on the occasion of Pitr Paksh Amavasya, the day which is considered as most appropriate to pay obeisance to the souls of those who have departed for the heavenly abode.
Despite inclement weather conditions, large number of devotees visited the Shrine today and performed various Poojas and rituals besides offering donations seeking attainment of Moksha for their dear ones who have left this world for heavenly abode.
As the shrines are revered as most auspicious, the Dharmarth Trust J&K has taken lot of pain in ensuring that no devotee faces inconvenience with regard to basic facilities, cleanliness and other amenities. The arrangements were made keeping in mind the utmost sanctity of holy Devika river flowing in the vicinity which holds great importance in Hindu culture as the place is one of the most venerated Duggar Tirath Sthals.
The Dharmarth Trust of Jammu is more than a hundred years old. It was founded in 1846 by Gulab Singh, founder-ruler of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, with a personal grant of half a million rupees, a big amount in those days. It is the largest Hindu Trust in Northern India and one of the oldest in the whole of this country entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring that the temples and shrines do not suffer the vagaries of nature or fall to the rapacity of art vandals. The Trust is managing about 175 temples and shrines all over the country, most located in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. What makes the Trust important and distinguishable is the fact that it is presided over by Dr. Karan Singh, an eminent Vedic scholar and politician.
A visitor hailing from Jammu’s walled city, who visited the shrine for offering Pind Daan praised the arrangements made by the Dharmarth Trust. He said it was a nice experience visiting this site as all the facilities were in proper order with special focus on cleanliness. He said that helmsmen manning the arrangements really deserve applauds. Several other devotees also shared similar views with regard to level of preparation to welcome visitors for offering Pind Daan for their departed dear ones.
