JAMMU, Nov 5: A Dharmik Samelan on Nag Pooja and Nilmat Puran was organized today at Jagti township by Sharda Prachar Samiti Trust in which Chander Mohan Sharma, senior leader BJP and chairman Suriya Putri Andolan was the chief guest.
In his address Sharma gave a historic perspective of Kashmir in relation to Nilmat Puran and Nag Pujan (worship of snakes). He exhorted the participants to follow the age old heritage and cultural ethos of Kashmir based on Nilmat Puran with special emphasis on Nag Pujan.
The programme started with Sharda Vandhna and popular Kashmiri bhajans presented by the students of Hee Ma Public School Jagti which was followed by Nag Pujan. The speakers who presented their papers on Nilmat Puran and Nag Pujan included Omkar Nath Shastri, chairman of the Trust, Dr Ramesh Bhat and Bindraban Sher (both social activists), Roshan Lal Bhat, Director, Hee Ma Public School) and Chaman Lal Koul Trustee.
The prizes were also distributed among the participating students by the chief guest. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by P N Pandita trustee.
