BHADERWAH, Nov 17: 64-days long dharna of Bhaderwah Hospital Bachao Front, against the shifting of Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Bhaderwah from its old complex located in the heart of town, culminated at Seri Bazar here today with burning of effigies of District Development Commissioner (DC) Doda, State Health Minister (HM) and Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Doda.
The dharna, which was organised as usual in the complex of locked SDH Bhaderwah, was participated by large number of women folk. The traffic was also disrupted for over a couple of hours, where speakers expressed their wrath against the authorities for their apathy towards people’s problems caused due to shifting of SDH from its old complex located in the heart of town.
While reading out the copy of CMO’s order to BMO Bhaderwah, the senior Front leader and president of Pensioners’ Association, Abdul Hafiz Fani, alleged that the order of shifting SDH Bhaderwah to the new building was done at the behest of the PRO to the Union Health Minister.
According to the contents of the Order, the new building which was to inaugurate any time between September 20 to 25, 2012, has not been inaugurated till date and during the meantime, over couple of dozens patients have lost their lives in the new hospital, which is still incomplete in many respects, he said adding, the hospital was shifted merely because the Union Health Minister had to inaugurate it.
“ The ill advised decision has cost many innocent lives because the new hospital is nothing but a spacious building having no sign or symptom of it being called a hospital”, Fani maintained.
He called upon the people to remain prepared for a long drawn war on the issue.
