DHSK assesses healthcare services in Budgam

Srinagar, Sept 12: Director Health Services Kashmir (DHSK), Dr Jehangir Bakshi, today toured district Budgam to assess the healthcare services provided to the region’s general public.
He was accompanied by Divisional-level officers, while the visit aimed at a comprehensive assessment of hospital functioning and addressing any issues.
Director inspected various sections to review operational status, staff strength, drug and logistics status, and to address concerns regarding the hospital’s services and infrastructure at DH Budgam.
“A significant focus was placed on the Biomedical Equipment Management and Maintenance Program (BEMMP),” a DHSK spokesperson said.
The Director reviewed the list of equipment under this program and emphasized adherence to proper protocols in handling condemned equipment.
During his visit, the Director led a discussion on realigning the hospital’s departments in accordance with current medical standards and issued an important directive regarding the hospital’s preparedness for disaster management.
He also reviewed the status of various National Health Programmes being implemented at District Hospital Budgam and conducted a detailed inspection of the District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC).
While reviewing the Jan Aushadhi store, the Director highlighted the importance of ensuring it operates 24×7, providing patients with constant access to affordable medicines, the spokesperson added.
In his meeting with the Medical Superintendent, DHSK prioritized the establishment of a Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) at the hospital, in line with guidelines and directives from higher authorities.
He also inspected the new construction site of the 125-bedded District Hospital at Reshipora, Budgam.
