Srinagar, Feb 26: With some districts across Kashmir failing to achieve 100 percent saturation under the AB PM-JAY and AB-PMJAY SEHAT Schemes, authorities today directed the concerned health authorities in districts to pick up the pace or face action.
With the schemes in vogue for the last several years, strongly-worded directives in this regard have come from the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK), which has asked the concerned Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) in the districts to ensure the registration of all the eligible beneficiaries under the scheme by March 15.
“To achieve complete registration-100% saturation-in all the districts of Kashmir Division, the Chief Medical Officers have been repeatedly asked to organize registration camps for Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries across Kashmir Division,” DHSK said.
However, it noted that despite repeated instructions, “concerns have arisen due to a lack of substantial effort from some districts in achieving 100% saturation.”
DHSK said that the Government has taken the lackadaisical approach in the districts “seriously and emphasized the importance of Ayushman Card creation.”
The directives issued have also taken note of the failure of some districts in utilizing the special campaigns launched by the Government of India, such as the Ayushman Bhava and Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, to ensure the effective coverage of the health insurance schemes.
“Furthermore, the Government of India launched the ‘Ayushman Bhava’ and ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ campaigns to ensure optimal delivery of state-run health schemes, including those in remote areas, and achieve saturation for all eligible beneficiaries,” DHSK said, terming it “unfortunate” that some districts have “failed to utilize these campaigns effectively to saturate registrations under AB PM-JAY and AB-PMJAY SEHAT.”
In this backdrop, DHSK said, all the Chief Medical Officers are impressed upon “to ensure complete coverage for all eligible beneficiaries under AB PM-JAY and AB-PMJAY scheme by March 15th, 2024.”
In case the districts, which are low on registrations under the health scheme, once again fail to achieve the target, DHSK said that the same will result in strict action under relevant regulations, and the same shall be reflected in the performance of officers.
As per the details shared in this regard, not a single district across Kashmir has achieved 100 percent saturation under the schemes. Kupwara is at the lowest across Kashmir and has recorded the registration of 68 percent of the population under the scheme, followed by Srinagar, which has covered 75 percent of the eligible population.
Others include Pulwama with 90.22 percent, Shopian with 88.80 percent, Kulgam with 85.73 percent, Budgam with 84.67 percent, Ganderbal with 83.72 percent, Anantnag with 82.32 percent, Bandipora with 80.24 percent, and Baramulla with 79.79 percent.
