Coordinates healthcare plans for pilgrims

Srinagar, June 11: In preparation for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2024, Director Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK), Dr. Mushtaq A. Rather, convened a coordination committee meeting today attended by various stakeholders involved in delivering healthcare services during the holy pilgrimage.
At the outset, DHSK presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation, providing an in-depth overview of the healthcare action plan set in place by the Directorate for the upcoming Yatra while also informing the members about the new initiatives and innovations employed this year.
On the occasion, he emphasized the importance of coordination among the various stakeholder departments for an efficient and foolproof healthcare delivery system.
During the meeting, attended by medical service providers from the Army, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, SDRF, SKIMS, and the GMC Associated Hospitals, significant issues requiring inter-sectoral coordination were discussed extensively to ensure the smooth functioning of the healthcare delivery system during the pilgrimage.
“The agenda focused on the current status of infrastructure, the setup of medical facilities along the Yatra route, and medical arrangements for pilgrims by different agencies,” DHSK’s Yatra Media Cell said in a statement.
It also mentioned emergency coordination with the health department, deployment of medical teams, inventory of medical supplies and equipment, emergency response protocols, coordination with local hospitals and air evacuation plans, and communication between the health department and other stakeholders, as well as real-time information sharing.
Dr. Rather noted that the aim of these new initiatives is to further strengthen healthcare services along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes.
Those who attended the meeting included Brigadier Medical 15th Corps, Commandant 92 Base Hospital, CMO Anantnag, I/C CMO Ganderbal, Medical Superintendents of Bone & Joint Hospital and Police Hospital, I/C MS DH Ganderbal, Assistant Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dy. Medical Superintendent SKIMS MCH Bemina, Officers from State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Office In-charge Yatra Unit DHSK, and Nodal Officer Yatra (Baltal/Pahalgam).
