JAMMU, July 30: J&K Medical Emergency Ambulance Services-Dial 108/102 has again proved as a strong pillar in strengthening health system in J&K as after a gap of almost two years the annual Amaranth Ji Yatra commenced with special deployment of 108 Emergency Ambulance Services to cater to any kind of Medical Emergency during the Yatra.
From June 28 to July 29, 2022, the 108 Ambulance Network served a total of 533 Amaranth pilgrims of which 402 were having medical emergencies, 43 trauma/accident cases due to difficult trekking, 8 vehicular road accident cases, 8 pregnancy related cases, 2 gastrointestinal cases, 5 wild animal bite cases and 65 were other type of emergencies.
“The 108 ALS & BLS ambulances provided quality pre-hospital care and shifted the needy people to secondary and tertiary care facilities thereby saving precious lives,” a handout stated.
BVG India had stationed a total of 13 dedicated Advance Life Support (ALS)/Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances at Baltal, Chandanwari and Pahalgam base hospitals with medical professionals after instructions from the Health Department of J&K.
Also five doctors were specially deputed by BVG India Ltd to assist and support the Health Department in providing medical aid to the pilgrims.
In total, the doctors at various medical aid centers served a total of 10636 patients till date in the ongoing pilgrimage.
BVG India has been serving J&K and Ladakh for last 2.5 years and the ambulance service was an asset in shifting cloudburst victims.
Project Head of BVG India Ltd for J&K, Vikrant Gusain has asked the people of J&K to call at toll free 108 emergency number to avail free ambulance services with quality pre-hospital care in case of any medical emergency.
