Didar Singh appointed FICCI Secretary General

NEW DELHI, Oct 19: Industry body Ficci today appointed former Secretary in the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs A Didar Singh as its Secretary General.
He will take charge from next month.
Singh succeeds Rajiv Kumar, who will lay down office on October 23, Ficci said in a statement.
Singh, 61, has served in various ministries including Commerce, Heavy Industries and Road Transport and Highways, it said.
A post-graduate from Delhi University, St Stephens College, Singh also did Masters in Development Administration from Birmingham University, UK.
Singh is an expert in e-Commerce and ICT development and has done several studies in the area of ICT strategy and e- Commerce for international agencies like International Trade Centre and World Health Organisation, the release said.
Kumar had joined Ficci in October 2010 as the Director General when Amit Mitra was the chamber’s Secretary General.
Later, he replaced Mitra in May 2011 and became the Secretary-General as Mitra became West Bengal Finance Minister, the release said.
Besides, it said, Director General of Ficci Arbind Prasad continues to support the Secretary General in his responsibilities. (PTI)
