KATHUA, Oct 17: Serious differences have cropped up in the District Development Board (DDB) review meeting between the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh and MLA Kathua and BJP general secretary, Rajiv Jasrotia over the move to shift the Indoor Stadium from Kathua to Billawar.
Mr Jasrotia strongly protested against the move in the meeting and warned to walkout in protest in case he will not be allowed to raise the issue in the meeting after the Deputy Chief Minister informed the meeting that the Stadium will be established at Billawar.
However, the other MLAs pursued him not to walkout and he kept his point. They also supported him saying earlier in DDB meeting it was decided that the Indoor Stadium will be established at Kathua.
Jasrotia said that Kathua which is fast developing township in the State after the capital cities of Srinagar and Jammu fully qualifies for the establishment of Indoor Stadium. He said it is a pity that instead of Kathua which has a population of 1.5 lakh, the DDB decision is being changed to shift the indoor stadium to Billawar which has a population of seven thousand.
The MLA said that during the District Development Board meeting over three months back in Kathua which was chaired by Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayed it was decided that Indoor Stadium will be established at Kathua and there was no logic in shifting the same to Billawar. He wanted to know what parameters have been established for shifting the Stadium to Billawar.
