Differences on National Film Comm can be ironed out: Tewari

PANAJI, Nov 21:
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari today said the issues between his department and the Home Ministry over the formation of National Film Commission can be ironed out.
“I don’t think it is a problem. There are different parts of Government which implement the mandate. We will have to see how creases are ironed out,” Tewari told reporters here on the sidelines of the Film Bazaar organised by National Films Division Corporation (NFDC) during the ongoing IFFI in Goa.
The issues raised by the Home Ministry over the Commission cannot be termed as “problems.” Work is in progress for the formation of National Film Commission, he said.
“We are engaged in the process. Now we have to see how we can conceptualise it,” he added.
“Different people on behalf of the Government are processing the idea. The important thing is that fundamentally the concept has been accepted,” Tewari said.
There are different stakeholders who need to get together for it, he added.
“What is important is that at the end of the day, it is a good idea,” Tewari expressed.
The concept of the Commission was conceived after foreign filmmakers complained about the multiple permits that they have to take for shooting in India.
The Commission would facilitate a single window system for foreign filmmakers to shoot in India.
Union Home Ministry had expressed apprehensions on internal security after the single window clearance is in place. (PTI)
