Different Colleges celebrate 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Ji

JAMMU, Nov 5: Different Colleges here today organized programmes to mark the celebrations of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
A series of programmes to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji are underway at Government College for Women Parade. These programmes started yesterday and will culminate on November 8. In this regard a peace rally was organized by the staff and students of the College today. Shabad Kirtan was performed by the students and Parsad was distributed to all in the College. A documentary on the life of Guru Nanak Ji was also shown to the students to spread the message of his teachings in the society.
To celebrate 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah today organized an inter-collegiate quiz on the topic ‘Life and Preaching of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’. Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Principal of the College was the chief guest while Amrit Kour, Principal GHSS for Boys Bishnah and Ravinder Kour were special guests. Prof. Risha Kumari was the quiz master and there were five teams comprising two students each from five different colleges. The first prize was won by GDC Ramgarh, second by GDC Bishnah and third by GCW Kathua.
In connection with celebration of 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, GDC R.S Pura organized a Pagri Tying Competition under the guidance of Principal, Dr. Sunita Sudan and supervision of Prof Rajinder Singh. About 13 students participated in the event. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Sukhdeep Singh Sasan highlighted the concept of turban. Jaspreet Singh and Jagjeet Singh were adjudged first, whereas Sarabjeet Singh and Gurvinder Singh stood second and third respectively.
