Different Institutes celebrate NYD with enthusiasm

JAMMU, Jan 11: Several colleges in Jammu region celebrated National Youth Day to honour Swami Vivekanand’s birth anniversary with various programs.
The NSS Unit of Government Degree College Khour organized speech, poem recitation, and painting competitions under the theme “Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue,” as part of the National Youth Festival (#NYF2025). Principal Prof. Dr. T.K. Sharma emphasized the importance of youth involvement and Vivekanand’s teachings in nation-building.
At Government Degree College (GDC) Thannamandi, the event, organized by the Red Ribbon Club, NSS, NCC, Sports Department, and IIC, included a symposium, quiz, and sports activities. Principal Prof. Farooq Ahmed highlighted youth development through Vivekananda’s philosophies, while Dr. Ashaq Malik spoke on his contributions to universal brotherhood. Zia Ul Rehman, Muskan Mir, and Zara Fatima secured top positions in the symposium.
GDC Darhal hosted an interaction session on the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, focusing on youth involvement in combating substance abuse. Experts Dr. M. Saleem Wani and Dr. Atta Ul Rehman Malik discussed the psychological and social impacts of drug use.
At GDC Ramnagar, the Red Ribbon Club, in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society, held a symposium on the theme “Role of Youth in the Development of Modern India.” The winners of the competition were Arpit Bandral, Preeti Sharma, and Veenakshi. Prof. Bhavnaish Chand, Principal of GDC Ramnagar, emphasized empowering youth for a prosperous society.
Meanwhile, the National Medicos Organization (NMO) also organizing a Blood Donation Camp at the State Cancer Institute on National Youth Day. Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean of GMC Jammu, inaugurated the event and encouraged medical students to participate. Under the supervision of Dr. Deepak Kumar, Medical Superintendent (State Cancer Institute), the camp successfully raised awareness about the importance of blood donation and its life-saving impact.
