Different institutions across J&K observer ‘Martyrs Day’

JAMMU, Jan 30: Different Educational Institutions, Police and Poltical parties across Jammu and Kashmir observed Martyrs Day and paid tribute to the Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and all Martyrs of Nation who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
IGP Kashmir V. K Birdi, SSP PCR Kashmir, and other officers observed two minutes of silence in the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the nation in the Conference Hall of PCR Kashmir.
Besides, a two-minute silence was also observed in all district headquarters and police establishments across the Kashmir Valley. “The day reminds us of the value of freedom and the sacrifices made by our revolutionary leaders and courageous freedom fighters to attain it,” police said.
“The day is a symbol of ‘Unity and Pride’ for the nation as a whole and helps us remember the brave hearts who laid down their lives for the country’s freedom.”
Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur observed Martyrs Day at Main Parade Ground in which GOs/NGOs/Others/Trainees of various ongoing courses assembled in the ground. After that all the participants suspended their daily scheduled work activities and observed silence for two minutes to remember those who had sacrificed their lives during the struggle for India’s freedom.
Government Degree College (GDC) R S Pura Jammu observed Martyrs’ Day, also known as ‘Shaheed Diwas’ or ‘Sarvodaya Day’ and observed across the country to honour those who sacrificed their lives for the Country’s Independence. To commemorate the day NSS, NCC and Viksit Bharat club of GDC R S Pura organized a program to pay tribute and homage to the unsung heroes of the nation. The event was presided over by Prof. Shifali Abrol, who gave an introductory speech on the event and threw light on the significance of the day.
Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah observed Martyrs day in the memory of those who sacrificed their lives during the struggle for India’s freedom. To observe the day faculty members, NSS volunteers and students gathered in front of the main building and observed silence for two minutes followed by Principal, Prof. Anju Bala addressed the students and apprised them about the importance of the Day.
The students and staff of Government College for Women Bhagwati Nagar observed two minutes of silence on Martyrs’ Day in the memory of those who sacrificed their lives during the struggle for India’s Independence.
Prof. Nisha Bhagat, Convenor IQAC paid homage to the unsung heroes of nation and freedom fighters who laid their lives for Independent, Sovereign and Liberal India. She emphasized on the importance of commemorating such important days to remember the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation and it is because of their sacrifice that today we all can walk freely on our motherland.
Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur observed Martyr’s Day to pay homage to the brave souls who sacrificed their lives for freedom of the nation under the patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta. The Martyr’s Day also known as Shaheed Diwas also marks the Death Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of Nation. Staff and students of GDC Udhampur observed two minutes of silence in the memory.
Government Degree College (GDC) Thannamandi headed by Dr Farooq Ahmed, Principal of the college observed Martyrs’ Day with a series of events and activities to honour the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the nation. The program was organized by the NSS Unit of the college. This annual observance aligns with the Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination and serves as a reminder of the cost of freedom. The primary objective of the Martyrs’ Day observance was to instill a sense of respect and gratitude towards the martyrs and to educate the youth about the sacrifices made for the country’s independence and integrity. Dr. Nazakat Hussain, Senior Most faculty and HOD history and NSS program Officer Prof. Asif Ajaz Lone delivered a speech highlighting the importance of Martyrs’ Day.
Remembering Father of Nation on the 76th Martyrs Day, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organised a symposium on ‘Reflection on Mahatma Gandhi’s Ethical Leadership’. Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary (CA), Department of Consumers Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution; Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE and Dr Shobhana Radhakrishna, Eminent Gandhian offered an insight into the Gandhi’s principles of ethical leadership centred around values and integrity, the changing paradigm at workplaces.
Office of the Chief Education Officer Jammu observed martyrs day in the office in which CEO, Jagdeep Kumar Padha briefed about the importance of the day. January 30 was observed as Martyrs’ Day, also known as ‘Shaheed Diwas’ or ‘Sarvodaya Day’ and observed across the country to honour those who sacrificed their lives for the Country’s Independence. The day holds significance as it marks the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi-the Father of the Nation.
District Congress Committee Udhampur paid floral tribute to the father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 76th Death Anniversary in a function organised under the leadership of district President Vinod Khajuria.
While addressing the party workers, Khajuria said that we must follow the path of peace and communal harmony as taught by Mahatma Gandhi and which is most required in the present day situation. PCC General Secretary and Ex-MLA Dina Nath Bhagat remembered the struggle and contribution of Mahatma Gandhi.
